I wandered a bit in the Huntington Desert Garden this weekend and saw very pretty cacti and succulents growing in the 10-acre area. I left feeling so relaxed and happy. I can't wait to head back and check out the Rose and Shakespeare gardens and lily ponds.

On Sunday, I went to the Huntington Library in San Marino. It's beautiful and you must go and see it for yourself if you live in the LA/Pasadena area. I only wish I had a full day to really explore the place. Today, I'm sharing a few images from the art gallery and its collection of 18th Century British and French art. Tomorrow, I'll post photos from the botanical gardens. I'm definitely making plans to go back in a couple of weeks.

While looking around for THE perfect birthday present for my mom, I found Herriott Grace, a shop that sells beautiful hand carved and hand turned wooden objects. Herriott Grace is owned by Lance and Nikole Herriott, a father-and-daughter team in Canada. He creates the items, while she styles and photographs the pieces. I'm loving the bowls, but unfortunately all of them are sold out. My mom's birthday isn't for a couple more weeks so I'm keeping my fingers crossed more will be available. I stumbled upon Petra Bindel's work over the weekend and couldn't stop gazing at her photographs. I especially spent a lot of time on this Paris home featured in ELLE Decoration UK and Sweden back in 2010. Just about every corner in this space oozes creativity and I'm truly inspired by it.

Last night, I finally had the chance to check out the new West Hollywood Library. I always pass it on the drive home, but have only managed quick looks through the windows. And oh my goodness, it's so beautiful inside. The mid-century modern building has a floor-to-ceiling glass wall that faces the Pacific Design Center across the street, and has the coolest carved wood ceiling I've ever seen - well in a library. I'll definitely be spending more time here.

I'm loving the Handwritten Letters project by Mary Kate McDevitt. I first learned about her work via Pugly Pixel. Mary Kate is committed to creating a beautifully handwritten letter every day and sending them out to anyone who has subscribed to her blog. The letter will then act as a reminder to pick up a pen and write to a loved one. Unfortunately, the submission form is officially closed since she's already exceeded 365 participants. I will definitely be checking daily to see when Mary Kate opens it up again. I'm signing up when that happens!

I'm back from Park City, Utah after working five days at the Sundance Film Festival. It was pretty much go-go-go from 8:30 a.m. to sometimes 11 p.m., so I had very little free time to even explore the quaint historic district. But whenever I could, I snapped a few pics of the colorful houses set against the mountains topped with white fluffy snow. Even a lot of the shops and restaurant signage made me stop and say oohh.... I finally got the chance to ride the Pacific Wheel on the Santa Monica Pier. Apparently it's the world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel and features more than 160,000 energy-efficient LED lights. Pretty cool. These were taken several weeks ago when my friend Angela was visiting. It was fairly early in the afternoon, so there weren't a lot of people on the ride as you can see. We were up more than 130 feet, perfect height to admire the coastline.

Yesterday, my friend Em and I went to Pasadena's Rose Bowl Flea Market. My mission was to look for vintage bottles that could be used for a friend's wedding. There were hundreds of bottles to choose from, and I left with a couple that I think will be perfect for the special day. I also went to the Melrose Trading Post in LA to do more hunting. I left empty handed, but have tons of ideas for my friend's simple, but elegant wedding reception. All in all, it was a very good day!

After seeing it, I was enthralled by Iceland's breathtaking landscapes, and also couldn't help but admire Klara who completed a 25-day solo-hike through the country. I remember passing by this Venice house and wishing I had the nerve to ask for a home tour. Fortunately, I got my wish via this LA Times feature. Architect Daniel Monti designed this house for his parents. He created the gorgeous screen of Cor-ten steel that was bent and perforated by 3,000 circles. The circles of various sizes were used for the staircase's guardrail. Ingenious. I'm in love with the light and shadows in the home, as well as the openness and simplicity of its design.

This weekend, I found the tumblr for Edible Gardens LA. This incredible group builds, plants and sustains organic vegetable gardens, while Lauri (the founder) teaches gardening at local schools. She also helps chefs and families grow organic vegetables at home. Her message is simple: "7 billion people are now living on earth. Megacities are expanding to accommodate growing populations. Farmland is dwindling. How will we feed ourselves in the years to come? Home gardens. Community gardens. School gardens. More important than ever before."

Last Sunday, my brother, my friend Angela and I hit the open road and headed for Joshua Tree. We were all struck by the beauty of the rock formations, Joshua Trees and different plants. During our drive, we even spied a lone coyote wandering one of the trails. We left just before sunset, but I definitely want to go back and experience Joshua Tree at night!

Jennifer took these incredible shots inside Saipua, a flower and soap shop located in Brooklyn, NY. This is my favorite project. I've always wanted a treehouse in my backyard growing up, but thought it was impossible living in the city. Boy, was I wrong. Alexandra Meyn, aka the lucky girl, built a treehouse behind her Brooklyn home. The 40-square-foot retreat is made out of salvaged materials, and the interior is covered in pretty pink wallpaper and a collage of photos from fashion magazines. Amazing!!!

I was walking around The Grove in LA and saw this great book, "The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm," at Taschen. I've always loved the stories (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Hansel and Gretel), but the beautiful vintage illustrations really drew me to this collection of Brothers Grimm fairy tales compiled in honor of the 200th Anniversary. This is now on my birthday wish list.

The ladies at Matchbook Magazine had the best field trip ever in my opinion. They went to BHLDN's Philadelphia headquarters, and spent time with the brilliant women behind Anthropologie's sister brand that deals with all things bridal. I get super giddy when I see behind-the-scene features, so I was not disappointed with this one. Grace Kelly's description of the BHLDN girl? "She is drawn to textures and details that accentuate her femininity. She mixes and matches to create a style that is truly her own and she loves to combine the old with the new!

The third issue of Est Magazine went live last weekend and everything about it was incredibly inspiring. My favorite feature was this Hamptons home. I love the bluish-gray accents in the home and the natural light in all the rooms.

With a need to clear my head yesterday, I took the camera and spent some time shooting a few things from my backyard. I love that it was overcast and a little bit windy. I also couldn't stop taking pictures of our persimmon tree. It's growing lots of fruit so can't wait for more to ripen so I can start baking.
